Second chapter of the Underworld USA trilogy and following American Tabloid.
It will cover the years 1963-1968 between the murders of John Fitzgerald Kennedy (november 22 1963) and his brother Bobby (june 6 1968).
The book will be released on march 20 in France, on april 19 in the United Kingdom, and on may 8, 2001 in the United States.

According to Bill Stoner, "A lot of the action takes place in Las Vegas. I went with him last year to do research for the story".
According to rumors, James Ellroy wrote more than one thousand pages. In fact the book is containing around 700 pages.

The title is the same than the title of the fourth chapter of Lloyd Hopkins adventures (never finished).
The french title is American Death Trip. The french editor, François Guerif, aims to have unity between the french titles. The final book of the Underworld USA trilogy will be named Police Gazette in the US edition and American Madness in the french edition.
